Serpentine at Hyde Park

Serpentine at Hyde Park

Project Environment: Public Space / Gallery exhibition    |    Products supplied: Emu Round Table

Every year, the Serpentine Gallery invites a renowned architect to design and build a pavilion at the gallery beside the lake in Kensington Gardens, London. Barbed was honoured to contribute to the installation created by French architect Jean Nouvel for the Serpentine Gallery. That year, the creator of the Arab World Institute and of the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris, also acclaimed for his work on the Copenhagen Concert Hall for instance, had designed a pavilion all in bright red, reminding of the red used on the typically British telephone booths, letter boxes and London buses. We provided the Serpentine Gallery with outdoor furniture the vivid red of the temporary pavilion, allowing visitors to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the fantastic design.
