The future of garden furniture: indoor use in 2013?

New 2013 collections

In the outdoor furniture world, as in the fashion world, February is a busy month, with new longed-for collections arriving on our doorsteps. If you follow our Twitter account or like us on Facebook, or if you've read our January blog on Fermob, you know that we have been eagerly expecting Fermob's new catalogue which was launched on 13th February. If you want a copy you are welcome to come and pick one up in our store in Barnes, London.Cane-Line Conic Range - outdoor furniture

Reorganisation of our shop

While waiting for new catalogues, we have been working on our own shop, reorganising it a bit and adding a new section to welcome the new collections for 2013. Sometimes it’s nice to stick to the classics, and sometimes you want something brand new. This is why when you want some new design furniture from the latest collections, you’re invited to come, have a look and take your pick!

Furniture highlight: Fermob and Cane-Line

You probably know by now that we have a thing for Fermob. We are their largest UK retailer and the first and only “shop in shop” in the United Kingdom. We store all 24 colours!

Another garden furniture designer we like - although “garden furniture” might be a bit too restrictive - is Cane-Line. Where Fermob is a French company mainly specialised in aluminium furniture, Cane-Line is a Danish furniture designer keen to provide us design woven weatherproof furniture.

Cane-Line Diamond Sofa and on-the-move TableWhy should garden furniture stay outside?

There was a time when outdoor furniture was made in plastic and so obviously outdoorsy that you wouldn’t have imagined using them inside. This and the fact that once they’d spent time outside you didn’t really want to get dirty furniture on your clean carpets!

Times have changed now and sometimes design outdoor furniture are so refined and stylish that you can ask yourselves why we punish them (and ourselves) by leaving them outside! We’re not talking about benches, sunloungers and sunshades and products like Fermob’s Tablabri, a two-in-one table / canopy, which wouldn’t have much purpose indoors. But what about some chairs and tables? Here are some of our favourite versatile outdoor furniture items…

Cane-Line’s Conic range

You may know Cane-Line for its clever on-the-move low table, so easy to move around thanks to its handle, or for its Time-Out table, lightweight and easy to move too. Cane-Line is also one of the first manufacturers to design sofas for outdoor use, like the Diamond range, which is made with Cane-Line Tex, a special fabric meant for outdoor use, and the cushions, which are made with QuickDryFoam so don’t stay wet long. Once you sit on a Diamond Lounge Chair it’s so comfortable you don’t want to get up!

The 2013 novelty is the Cane-Line Conic range, polished furniture created with two things in mind: modularity and functionality. The Conic System is entirely modular: you can choose how many pieces you want and how you want to put them together, according to your mood and the size of your outdoor area. Cane-Line’s Conic furniture includes a single chair, a daybed, left or right modules, a lounge chair and even a coffee table to go with it. Like all Cane-Line products, they are weatherproof and above all, almost maintenance-free.

Fermob’s new twist to the Luxembourg range

Fermob Luxembourg Rocking ChairThe Luxembourg Chair by Fermob is famous for figuring in the Luxembourg gardens in Paris. Why think of using them inside then, you may ask? Because you haven’t seen Fermob’s latest creation, the Luxembourg Rocking Chair! Creative and colourful, what’s not to like in this clever twist to the elegant and classic Luxembourg Low Armchair?

Elle Decoration loved the "Rocker" too and even featured it in its May 2013 issue!

Lighten up your garden!

We are very enthusiast about our latest additions to our Fermob and Cane-Line products and we hope you will like them as much as we do, whether you want to try and use them indoors (which gives you space to get more outdoor furniture!) or you prefer to leave them outdoors since that’s what they’re made for.

And if you want to make the most of your garden furniture, remember to lighten up your garden so you can use it even when it is dark outside! We already mentioned Fatboy’s Edison lamps and Dancook’s firepit, but what about solar lighting? Economical and sustainable, they can also be stylish. We have some coming very soon so stay tuned!re...
