Modular Furniture: 5 of the Best

"Architecture is the thoughtful making of space.

-- Louis Kahn.

When you set up your garden, it's important to know what you want from your outdoor area, and how you plan to live in the space so you can decide what to do with it. Space is almost always an issue when you live in a city like London, which is why it is important to make every square metre count. If you have an urban balcony the challenge is greater, but even the largest garden requires thought and work to show its true potential. This is why we'd like to present you today with some of our favourite modular pieces of furniture that can fit in your outdoor area just the way you want it, and adapt to the space available.

Gandia Blasco Flat range

With the Flat range, Valencia-based company Gandia Blasco offers us modern, sleek-looking furniture that is both flexible and comfortable. Made from aluminium and polyethylene with foam cushions, and available in two colours, White and Bronze, the Flat range is stylish and refined. Gandia Blasco’s Flat Sofa will invite you (and your guests!) to enjoy idly your garden, while the Flat Table (round or square) with matching chairs (or armchairs if you prefer) will allow you to organise outdoor dinners that will be remembered. If you want to see the Flat modular range first hand, visit our showroom now where you can see the sleek combination of the Bronze frame with Crevin cushions.

Cane-Line Conic Range

How could we write about modular furniture without mentioning Cane-Line’s Conic range? The Conic Lounge in particular is divided into four modules (a chair, a daybed and two seaters) to make it easier for you to optimise your outdoor space, and you can add to it another Conic Lounge Chair or two if you want more seating options. On top of this you can decide to add a Conic Coffee Table to the whole, or choose a clever On the Move Table which makes moving furniture around a pleasure!

Fuera Dentro Cima

We challenge you to find outdoor furniture more modular than the Cima range by Fuera Dentro! The Cima Lounge can be entirely personalised and custom built, allowing you to choose the frame, finish and fabric that suits your tastes best. Your garden lounge set can also be straight, U-shaped or L-shaped, depending on your outdoor space and personal preference.

With Cima, you can choose frames and armrests made of teak, stainless steel or powder-coated stainless steel, in three colours, Black, White or Cendre. The Lounge table is available in five different sizes, and you can decide whether you prefer the table top to be ceramic, toughened glass or teak. On top of this, two types of fabric are available for the cushions: outdoor artificial leather with Fuera Dentro’s own Stamskin and Batyline, Fuera Dentro’s woven polyester fibre with PVC coating. If you’re looking to play around with steel/wood contrasts and like truly modular furniture, then you should definitely check out Fuera Dentro’s Cima range.

Coro Nest

The Nest Lounge by Coro is a bit of a classic now, which is why its original designer, Stefano Gallizioli, gave it a redesign this year. Highly comfortable, made with stainless steel with lovely dryfeel polyurethane cushions, the Nest Modular Lounge can be linear or circular, depending on the layout you’re aiming for in your lounge area. For some classic Italian furniture with a modern twist, don’t look any further, and don’t forget to check out the matching Nest Table and Nest Chaise Longue if you like the Nest Lounge! New this season and also definitely worth a look is the Sabal collection with modular garden sofas, seats and tables.

Gloster Grid

The Grid range by Gloster is a new way of thinking about modular: instead of adding pieces in a linear fashion, the Grid range is more versatile, each item using common components to help you create the perfect outdoor lounge that meets your needs and wishes. The eye-catching Grid furniture is made of aluminium and teak, with weatherproof outdoor fabric.

Modular furniture is a great way to make the most of the space you have outdoors, and to personalise your garden with your own touch. The furniture we’ve shown here is just a glimpse of what is available in today’s ever-changing furniture world, so if you need any assistance with choosing the right modular lounge, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’re also all ears on Facebook, Twitter and Google+, so feel free to join us!
