What’s on in London this Bonfire Night weekend?

The magic of Bonfire Night is almost upon us, which means the skies of Britain will be lit up in an explosion of colour, with glorious firework displays taking place up and down the country. We may be a little biased at Barbed, but we believe London is certainly a great place to be if you’re looking for an impressive firework display!

Of course, Bonfire Night is a fantastic opportunity to invite family and friends to the house, so that you can show off your latest designer garden furniture purchases while hosting your own magnificent firework display. Though, for many, the preference is to get out and about in London for the night, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the crowds, all while witnessing the dazzling displays overhead.

Luckily, there are plenty of firework displays in London to choose from over the bonfire weekend, with many firework displays in Barnes and Chiswick taking place. This is handy for us, as some of these are just a stone’s throw away from our outdoor garden furniture showrooms!

Here are some of the best firework displays taking place across the capital this Bonfire Night:

Barnes bonfire and fireworks display

Date: Saturday, November 4th

Time: 5:30pm (bonfire lighting at 7:00pm, fireworks at 7:45pm)

Venue: Barnes Sports Club

Price: Adults £15, Children £5, Family £30

This Bonfire Night, Barnes Sports Club will play host to yet another fantastic celebration, with a best guy competition, a roaring bonfire, a big firework display and plenty of mulled wine and the licensed bar! This event always draws in a large crowd, and tickets can be bought in advance at a reduced rate from the clubhouse.

Bishops Park fireworks display

Date: Friday, November 3rd

Time: 6:00pm (children’s fireworks at 7:15pm, main fireworks at 8:00pm)

Venue: Bishops Park

Hammersmith and Fulham are putting on two firework displays for 2017, this Bishops Park display and the other in Ravenscourt Park (see below). Bishops Park will be a fantastic choice for the family this bonfire weekend, as they feature a children’s firework display, before the main display takes place with fireworks creatively choreographed to music. Alongside this, the family can make the most of the funfairs and yummy food stalls.

Ravenscourt Park fireworks display

Date: Saturday, November 4th

Time: 6:00pm (children’s fireworks at 7:15pm, main fireworks at 8:00pm)

Venue: Ravenscourt Park

Price: Advanced tickets £6, Gate tickets £8, Under 5’s free

Another family-friendly celebration of fireworks and funfair action, this time at Ravenscourt Park. Like the Bishops Park event the evening before, this event will also host a children’s firework display before the main display with fireworks choreographed to music. More funfairs and food stalls will ensure the family are kept entertained and well-fed throughout!

Blackheath fireworks display

Date: Saturday, November 4th

Time: 12:00pm (food and drink stalls open from 5:00pm, fireworks at 8:00pm)

Venue: Blackheath

Price: Free

You don’t get much for free these days, but the major fireworks display at Blackheath offers exactly that! It’s a huge event that annually attracts crowds of up to 100,000 to a full day of fun, so it’s certainly one of the larger Bonfire Night celebrations! Fairground rides will open from midday for those seeking an early start, with food and drink stalls opening in the afternoon, before a major fireworks display kicks off at 8:00pm. Be sure to wander through Blackheath Village, as the Guy Fawkes celebrations really do take over for the night.

Alexandra Palace bonfire and fireworks festival

Date: Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th

Time: 8:30pm Friday (laser show at 8:30pm, fireworks at 9:00pm), 7:30pm Saturday (laser show at 7:30pm, fireworks at 8:00pm)

Venue: Alexandra Palace

Last but certainly not least on our list of Bonfire Night recommendations is one of London’s biggest firework displays and events of the year, so big and incredible they’ve decided to host it over 2 nights! Not only will there be an incredible firework display above a panoramic view of London, but there will also be more than enough to keep you highly entertained throughout with a fire parade, an abundance of street food, a German beer village and live music.

If you’re looking for designer garden furniture in London to help make the most of Bonfire Night this year, then call into one of our showrooms in Barnes and Chiswick to see what contemporary delights we have available. Our range of outdoor accessories can also add a great deal of style to your garden, such as our selection of firepits, perfect for recreating the cosiness of Bonfire Night over and over, or our collection of cushions and blankets, which would be ideal for admiring the fireworks in warmth and comfort!
