Find your Halloween spirit by exploring Museums at Night

Halloween is fast approaching, but it's not too late to start thinking about what sort of spookiness you’ll be getting up to with the family!

Here at Barbed, our passion may lay in luxury garden furniture and accessories, but we still enjoy a little fright for Halloween!

There will be ghostly parties and scary events galore all over the capital, including the UK-wide Museums at Night festival taking place this weekend, October 26th – 28th, which means you can explore museums, galleries and heritage sights across London after hours. There will be a whole host of spooky events, captivating workshops, and themed talks taking place late into the night, with many suitable for the entire family to enjoy!

Experience some culture after dark with Museums at Night

The three-day biannual festival will have plenty of culture, history and heritage on offer, as museums and galleries will be opening their doors to showcase late-night exhibitions, torchlit tours and Halloween-themed events. Museums at Night can offer you a brilliant opportunity to enjoy the culture and history of London in a much spookier fashion!

London Canal Museum

The Amazing Halloween Experience

The London Canal Museum will be hosting an event that has you constantly checking over your shoulders in fright! Their witch will be re-telling creepy tales, followed by a three-quarter-mile-long narrowboat trip through the Islington Tunnel. This event is always a big hit with families, so go along for the ride, if you dare. Scary fancy dress costumes are very welcome!

Charles Dickens Museum

Charles Dickens Museum Dickens After Dark: A Halloween Special

Experience Dickens’s glorious townhouse as if Dickens himself had just stepped out of the door. Discover what his Victorian home would have been like as night falls. The housemaid will tell you your fortune, and the magician will dazzle you by performing incredible tricks. The candlelit bar will also be open throughout the evening if you need to escape the scary and mysterious night.

Guided Tour: Martin Puryear Exhibition

Take a guided tour of the Martin Puryear exhibition, where artist Veronica Ryan will share fascinating details about Puryear’s incredible abstract sculptures and his fascinating works on paper. Martin Puryear’s approach to materials and natural sensibility results in attentive works which subtly brush with issues of identity and politics.

Dorich House Museum

Case of the Missing Monsters

Are you ready to listen to the spooky Halloween stories with the resident librarian of Dorich House? If so, this is the event for you! There is one problem, however, as the monsters have escaped from their books! You can join Mildred McDougall as she hunts around Dorich House, discovering some traditional Hallowe’en spooks along the way.

Tower Bridge

Raising Suspicions: A Fiendish Mystery inside Tower Bridge’s Engine Rooms

One of London’s most iconic attractions will be opening its doors after dark as it hosts its first ever mystery experience. You will work in teams as you attempt to solve the mysterious disappearance of Leslie, the Bridge Master. You will have just over an hour to solve the mystery and discover what really happened to the missing engineer. This unique event offers a rare opportunity to experience the historical past of the 123-year old iconic Tower Bridge. Good luck!
